Upper Cervical Spine, why is it important?

Upper cervical chiropractic care is a specialized type of chiropractic that focuses on the top two bones in your neck C1 and C2 - also known as Atlas and Axis.

Why is this part of the spine so important?

Most people think the brain ends in the skull, however this is not entirely true. The brainstem, which is primarily responsible for all autonomic functions in the body ends at around C2 in the upper part of your spine. Therefore when we have stress or subluxation in that area of the spine it disrupts our autonomic functions and creates imbalance or dis-ease in our body. This includes everything related to organs, glands, and blood vessels. Kind of a big deal!

When the upper cervical portion of the spine is specifically adjusted, the brain begins to self regulate and the body can begin to heal. Health conditions that are often impacted by the stress in the upper cervical spine include:

⁃ IBS

⁃ Digestion issues

⁃ Vertigo/dizziness

⁃ Headaches/migraines

⁃ Brain fog

⁃ ADD/ inability to focus

⁃ Neck and Back Pain

In our office our doctor has been trained in upper cervical chiropractic procedures that are gentle, specific, and highly effective. If you or any of your loved ones are struggling with their health and looking for a natural cure. We would love to connect with you.
